About SOF

Founded in 2021 by THF Alumnus Jason Goyanko, Swim for SOF is now in its 5th year and will be bigger than ever, with over 120 swimmers expected. The Honor Foundation’s Annual Swim for SOF is a high-performance athletic event that draws together anyone willing to take the challenge—supporters, veterans, and businesses alike—in a charity swim that embodies the grit and determination of our Special Operations Forces, giving us a glance at how hard they work to defend our freedom.

Swim for SOF is a 3.2-mile charity swim across San Diego Bay ending on the USS Midway. The swim consists of a 1-mile leg starting at Glorietta Beach, where participants swim under the Coronado Bridge. They then exit the water at Tidelands Park and perform a tribute workout consisting of 100 push-ups and 22 pull-ups. After the workout, swimmers re-enter the water and swim the remaining 2.2 miles to the USS Midway. A final Tribute Workout is conducted on the flight deck, followed by a closing ceremony.
